Taught Restorative Dentistry at UC San Francisco (currently Clinical Professor Emeritus in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences)
Authored and co-authored 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals and lectured on restorative dentistry in the US, Japan and Europe
Past President of the Dental Materials Group
Research interests include optical diagnosis of early decay, laser interactions with teeth and materials, dental adhesion, conservative restorative techniques, clinical testing of adhesive techniques, secondary caries, and effects of fatigue on dentin
